Laptop screen only shows colorful stripes in 1230 Liesing

Is your laptop screen showing only colorful stripes and you're in 1230 Liesing? While it might look dramatic at first glance, it doesn't automatically mean your device is beyond repair. Often, the cause is a defect in the display, display cable, graphics chip, or internal connection. At ClickInternet, we check your notebook quickly, honestly, and without an appointment, so you'll soon know what's really going on.

What to do if your laptop screen only shows colorful stripes? Immediate measures

• Do not constantly turn the laptop off and on again if the stripes remain permanent or worsen. Repeated reboots usually do not fix hardware problems and can cause unnecessary stress in case of further defects.
• If possible, connect an external monitor or TV via HDMI, USB-C, or DisplayPort. If the image looks normal there, the fault is often with the laptop display, display cable, or hinge area.
• Do not move the screen back and forth if the colorful stripes intensify when opening and closing. This could indicate a damaged display cable or a loose connection.
• Back up important data as soon as you get access via an external monitor. Even if it "only" looks like a display problem, a current data backup is always advisable.
• Avoid DIY repairs with a screwdriver, YouTube instructions, and pressure on the panel. Modern laptops are built delicately, and a small mistake can turn a display problem into greater damage.

Why a laptop screen showing only colorful stripes needs professional help

Colorful stripes on a laptop screen can have many causes: a damaged LCD or OLED panel, a defective eDP or LVDS display cable, a problem with the graphics unit, or damage from a fall, pressure, or liquid. Without a proper diagnosis, it's hard to tell whether only the display needs to be replaced or if the motherboard, GPU, RAM, or internal connectors are affected. Professional inspection prevents unnecessary parts from being replaced or further damage from occurring due to incorrect opening.

• Vertical or horizontal colored lines across the entire screen
• Flickering image, image dropouts, or stripes when moving the display
• Black screen with individual colored bars or pixel patterns
• External display works normally, but the internal laptop screen does not
